Serving in response to the gospel
WHY WE SERVE
Christ has called
every believer to give their life to him.
We take that call (Matthew 16:24, Matthew 28:19) seriously, and consider it a joy to offer up the gifts that God has given us to worship him and build his kingdom. The gospel has changed everything; it has declared that the the last will be first, that the way up is down, and that the way to gain everything in Christ is to lose everything for Christ. So we seek to do just that – to joyfully give our lives in response to the life that Jesus gave for us, and the life he has now given to us.

Guest Services (Next Steps, Parking, Greeting, Seating, First Responder teams) seeks to create a welcoming environment to prepare people to receive and respond to the gospel. Our desire is to ensure there are no barriers for people to hear and experience the saving power of the Gospel! Please note: Set-up/Tear-Down only available at Northeast and Union County, and Baptism and Communion Teams are only available at Providence Road.

Mercy Worship seeks to celebrate the gospel of Jesus, wonder at the glory of God, and exhort Mercy Church to respond in worship of the one true God. It is comprised of our Band, Audio/Visual, and Multimedia teams. The Band offers Mercy Church a vehicle for worship by leading through music. The Audio/Visual team ensures the logistical quality of our worship services and events through audio engineering and mixing, as well as the control of visual media and lighting. The Multimedia team documents God’s faithfulness to our church through photo and video for current and future storytelling.
Time Commitment – Flexible, but typically 2 times/mo, practicing during the week and coming prepared on Sunday morning is expected. Band and A/V members must arrive by 7am on Sundays for practice. Covenant membership is required for band members.
The prayer team exists to serve Mercy Church by receiving and praying for concerns and requests. Team members gather weekly to pray for our church services and for the needs of our members. They are available to pray for people at the altar during services and commit to praying throughout the week for ongoing requests.
Time Commitment: 2-4 times/mo; pray for 30-45 minutes during weekly prayer meeting. Each campus arrival time is different. Covenant membership and background check required.
Mercy Students partners with families to raise up a generation of disciples who love God, love each other, and love our world by reaching students with the gospel, growing students to maturity in Christ, and sending students to live life on mission.
Time Commitment – 2-3 hours weekly on Thursday nights for discipleship groups and big groups; throughout the year for summer camp, mission trips, and spontaneous hangouts with students, parents, and other ministry team members. Covenant membership and background check required.
We believe college students are the most moldable, trainable, and sendable population. We seek to encourage, equip, and exhort our students to make disciples who make disciples, to play a major role in our vision to see a gospel awakening in the city of Charlotte that’s carried to the ends of the earth. If you’d be interested in serving our college students, there are a few roles available.
- Host Families for City Project (summer only)
- Host Homes (hosting students for dinners 2-3 times/semester)
- Informal Mentors (ongoing)
