Serving is Not a Job, It’s a Joy!

Mercy Church,

I want to take a moment to invite you to an exciting event we are hosting for you this Saturday, but before I do, I want to share with you a quick story of a recent first time guest.

Recently, a college student visited Mercy Church after being invited by one of our members. She was initially very hesitant about attending a church because of a previous negative church experience but felt that God was pointing her to Mercy Church, and she eventually came to her first service. When she did, she came with her defenses up, but as she felt welcomed and cared for by our ministry teams, her guard began to fall.

She even shared a bit about her experience with us:

“I can’t tell you how much it blessed me in so many different ways… I just felt the overwhelming feeling of safety and gentleness there…something I’ve desperately needed/wanted to feel in a church for so long… I knew, in that moment, I was exactly where the Lord wanted me. It’s such a blessing to even just feel excited and confident about coming!”

Mercy, this is why we serve! Each week, our Ministry Teams make sure that every member and guest feels welcomed at Mercy Church from the parking lot to their seat. They take care of all the details so that defenses and distractions are removed, leaving a clear path for the gospel!

It takes a small army to get us in and out of our facility on Sundays – and we are so grateful for our teams who do so! – but it’s not about us needing you to serve. It’s about you giving of yourself in response to what Jesus has done for you! Serving is such a great way for you to link arms with others (one of our greeting team members told me that serving on a ministry team has been one of the best ways she has gotten to know people at Mercy!) and grow in your faith.

So, we want to invite you in. Whether you’ve been serving on a ministry team with us for a while or you are interested in serving for the first time, we invite you to join us for a Ministry Team Rally on Saturday, January 28th from 9:00am – 12:00pm! This includes everyone from Guest Services to Mercy Kids to Worship and Production.

We will spend time in worship, learn about the heart behind each of our ministry teams, and have a time of hands-on training for all ministry team members. We will have breakfast and childcare provided. Will you let us know that you’ll be there?
