Reconstructing Faith Equip Forum | Nov 5, 2022
Mercy Church hosted guest speaker Barnabas Piper on November 5, 2022, to teach about faith reconstruction. Throughout three sessions, we learned how to ask questions, explore doubt, and cultivate tools to think about our faith. If you find yourself going through this process, or you know people who are, check out the recordings from the weekend and learn how to ask questions without losing your faith in Jesus, the scriptures, and the church.
Redeeming Sex Weekend
Over this weekend, we will discuss what it means to redeem faithful Christian sexuality. In our day, there are many approaches to sex within the church. We want to offer a biblical and practical approach to sex, sexual integrity, purity, and intimacy. This weekend is for everyone! Whether you are single, married, in college, same-sex-attracted, or widowed we invite you to join us.

1. Compassion (&) Conviction: A Guide to Faithful Civic Engagement by Christ Butler, Jason Giboney, and Michael Wear — This book lays out the biblical case for political engagement and helps Christians navigate the complex world of politics with integrity. Topics include political messaging, politics of race, protests, advocacy, and more.
2. Thou Shalt Not Be A Jerk: A Christian’s Guide to Engaging in Politics by Eugene Cho — Cho urges readers to stop vilifying those they disagree with, especially the vulnerable, and asks Christians to follow Jesus and reflect his teachings. Readers will be inspired to stay engaged, have integrity, listen to the hurting, and vote their convictions.
3. Onward: Engaging the Culture Without Losing the Gospel by Russell Moore — This book helps readers understand how the kingdom of God sets our priorities as believers and provides perspective on cultural issues. Moore discusses that as Christianity seems increasingly strange and even subversive to our culture, we as the church have the opportunity to embrace the distinctiveness of the Christian faith and to be marginalized for the sake of the gospel.

I’m convinced that as we continue to share and continue to plead with others to surrender their lives to Christ… Read more!
