Mercy Church 2016 – 2017 Budget Update

by Spence Shelton

Our first ever Member Meeting last week was another bright moment in our first year as Mercy Church. Special thanks from all of the Mercy family to Pastor John, our Pastor of Operations, who held it down as “the chair” in our fun first run at following ole’ Robert’s Rules of Order. (Next meeting I will be motioning to change the name to “John’s Rules.” Second? Anybody?) While our objective last night was approving the 2016-2017 Budget (which was unanimously approved!), I want to share with you a little about the vision and values behind this coming year’s budget. We don’t really turn “1” until September 13, but our fiscal year begins July 1, which gave us occasion to talk about where we are heading. But don’t worry, the birthday party is still planned for September and it’s gonna be fun!

One thing that is overwhelmingly evident as we move into year two is that the Mercy Church Family is jumping all in on the mission of God! I LOVE pastoring a church that is so hungry for God to use them in a big way for his glory in their day. This past year you (Mercy) have literally and metaphorically poured blood (looking at you Cliff Moore!), sweat, and tears into seeing Mercy Church establish itself as a gospel people for the city of Charlotte. Our Year 2 budget reflects an expansion of our vision in areas like evangelism & discipleship, while also ramping up our focus on ministering to families and college students.

It is my great joy to be serving with you, Mercy Church, and I’m praying we are once again blown away by God’s grace at the end of next year!
