Resident Church Planter

allan’s Story
I was born and raised in Kenya, Africa. I’ve been a Christian since eleventh grade, or as we call it in Kenya, Form 3. The more I’m aware of my sins, and the more I learn and experience God’s grace, the more I appreciate what the Lord did when He transferred me from the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His son because there I have found redemption in the forgiveness of my sins.
When we were dating, my beautiful bride, M’Lynn, introduced me to the teachings of Matt Chandler, David Platt, and John Piper, and the Lord used those lessons to point me to seminary. In August of 2014, we moved from Kenya to Texas for me to attend Criswell College. Since then, we have had three kids: Anaiya, Ezekiel “Zeek,” and Ezra. I graduated from Criswell in May 2018. Over the five years we lived in Texas, I had the privilege of interning at FBC Rowlett for a year and serving as a student minister at First Sachse for two years.
I began serving with Mercy Church as the Mercy Students Director in 2018. Since my time at Mercy Church, I have felt God calling me to plant a church back home in Nairobi, Kenya, which is something I’ve always wanted to do and was transparent about in my interview with Mercy’s leadership when they hired me. They’re response was an open-handed “we send God’s people to all people,” so while knowing my plan was to eventually go back to Kenya, they entrusted me with leading the Students Ministry for as long as God appointed me in that role. Now, in 2022, my family and I, and the Mercy Nairobi launch team are preparing to move to Nairobi. To learn more about this church plant and how you can support us, please visit our website.
