Mercy College

Welcome to Mercy College

The vision of Mercy College is to grow students into disciples who make disciples through the local church and send them to all nations to the glory of God.

We are a relationship-based movement that focuses on training our students to see all of life through the lens of being a disciple and a disciple maker. We do this by connecting college students to the local church, equipping them to make disciple-makers, and mobilizing them to all people.

THE WHY

Strategically Shaping Culture-Makers

College students make up 1% of the population, and they may be the most strategic 1% in the world. College students are the next culture shapers in the U.S. and around the world. If we can reach the next generation of college students we can change the world for Christ. Our desire is to be a ministry that makes disciples, who make disciples, who make disciples… and send them all over the world for God’s glory.

WHAT WE DO

Mercy College students meet together regularly in various settings, learn more about each of those below.

Discipleship Groups (dGroups)

This time is designed to equip and encourage students to make disciples who make disciples. Discipleship groups meet once a week on campus in small groups to study God’s Word, pray, and push each other towards Christ.

Hangouts

Hangouts are a weekly rhythm for our students to exist in community with one another in two different ways:
Family Hangouts are a time for believers to gather together and worship God through encouragement, song, scripture, and prayer.
Missional Hangouts are a fun, informal environment that gives Mercy College an opportunity to invite their non-Christian friends into community and engage them with the gospel, and model to them what it looks like to be transformed by the gospel.

City Project

A 5-week discipleship program focused on equipping college students to make disciples of all nations. City Project aims to develop students into disciples who make disciples by getting them involved in God’s mission through serving locally, nationally, and internationally, as well as learning how the Gospel affects our whole life.

National

In New York City, students travel for one week to engage Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists with the gospel. We partner with Global Gates Ministries who have been successfully doing ministry among these people groups for many years.

LOCAL

The middle of the summer includes several weeks in Charlotte, receiving practical theological and ministry training by pastors from Mercy Church. During this time students will learn to effectively share the gospel, think through difficult cultural and theological topics, and give their lives away to the city of Charlotte in response to the gospel through internships with local ministries.

INTERNATIONAL

During the last two weeks of the summer, students will travel abroad to serve alongside Mercy Church’s international church planting partners. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the mission of God, develop a heart for the nations, and better understand what it means to leverage your life for the gospel of Jesus Christ outside of the United States.

MORE WAYS TO SERVE

Consider the Go2 Initiative

The Go2 Initiative challenges every college student to spend the first two years after graduation living on mission as a part of a church planting team in North America or around the globe. We are working to mobilize our students to go and be healthy disciple makers alongside church planters and missionaries to see the gospel spread to all people.
