Jill’s Story

I grew up in Pickens, SC – always been a southern girl! I am blessed to have grown up in a Christian family and church has always been a part of my life.

I was saved at a young age and am thankful for God’s continual goodness and mercy in my life. The ups and downs are always present but my spiritual journey has been defined by seasons of growth and gratitude that only God can provide.

College was certainly a growing season for me. I attended Clemson University and then pharmacy school at the University of South Carolina. During these years, I quickly realized my faith had to be my own. I am thankful for ministries, friendships and family that God provided to grow me closer to Him.

My last year of pharmacy school, I met my sweet hubby, Tony, and we have been married for 28 blissful, perfect years! (oops, this is a church doc – hahahaha) Our first year of marriage, we lived in Kernersville, NC. The Lord provided us with a wonderful church family and opportunities to serve together. This set a trajectory for our family and we have been serving together in many ministries throughout the ever changing seasons of our lives.  From the nursery, to leading community groups to praying with dear brothers and sisters in times of need – what an incredible joy to strive to love others as Christ has loved us.

We moved to Charlotte in 1990. Tony started a company, I worked at a hospital and we watched life unfold at a rapid pace. Our boys, Josh and Daniel were born in Charlotte. Josh is a UNC grad and is attending Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He and our wonderful daughter in law, Hannah, live in Chapel Hill. Daniel is loving urban life in Atlanta, GA as he attends Georgia Tech.

In 2015, we joined the launch team of Mercy Church. What a joy to watch God work in this body! As empty nesters, Tony and I once again continue to see God provide a new season with challenges and joys.

His mercies are new every morning, Great is your faithfulness – Lamentations 3:23
